{ First Day of School! }

Well, it's finally happened. My little baby has grown up and become a "School-ager"!!

This week was filled with Parent Meetings, Open Houses, School Supplies, Lunch Packing, going to bed early/getting up early, more parent meetings/forms/paperwork, but in the end it was all worth it, to see my son wave good-bye to me with a smile on his face, and then be sad that its Friday, and he won't get to go to school for "2 whole days, that's a long time mommy."

I think my favorite part of this week, was when my daughter wanted to be in the pictures, and she was jumping up and down with as much excitment as her brother...I think she is not so secretly glad to have me all to her self, and even more glad to have space from a brother who constantly picks on her ;)

So begins the journey of the rest of his life!

{ 1 Year Old Friends }

Again, this session was a while ago, it was actually one of the hottest days in May. By the end of the session the babies were sweaty, red-cheeked, and done with pictures.

The mommies of the babies were really good friends, so they shared their session, and we were able to get some images of the two babies together as well.

{ Monona Terrace...Here we Come! }

The Monona Terrace is one of the most popular locations in Madison for portraits, whether it be for families, weddings, or seniors. I love to photograph at the terrace, the key is to schedule that session early in the morning when no one is there yet, because as most Madisonians know, the Terrace gets really crowded on nice summer days :)

This family happened to schedule right in the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday...luckily we were able to find an empty pier, and some grassy areas to get some images without too many 'strangers' in the background.

{ 2 Little Girls }

At first Mom and Dad did not know how their little girls were going to do during the session. 2 & 3 year olds are a fun age to photograph, but they can also be challenging, as they are in the "independent" stage, and like to do what they want to do :)

Mom and Dad had nothing to worry about, we took the time to get the kids warmed up to the camera, (and me), and if we had some tears here and there, you would never know it from looking at the images. I had a lot of fun, and I know they did too.

Many people ask me for location ideas, and I have a ton! This session was taken at one of my favorite spots in Verona. Actually, all of my favorite locations happen to be open fields, old barns, and mature landscapes. That's really all you need, as most of the focus is the child and not the scenery. Although, with little ones, sometimes how they react to the scenery is a great image in iteself, i.e., looking through an old window, wading in the water at the Beach, etc.

{ Fun Family }

I'll admit, I am a little behind in posting images, in fact this session was way back in May! Nevertheless, no matter how long it takes me to catch up, I make sure to give every family their due minute in the spotlight.

Like I said this session was in May, and it was a little chilly, but once the kids had some goldfish crackers and started running around, we all warmed up, and had a blast. Even mom and dad were willing to get some great images of the two of them!
